CPSC, Krups Announce Recall of Coffeemakers

Hazard

An electrical connection in these coffeemakers can overheat and ignite the filter basket support, presenting a risk of fire and burn hazard to consumers.

Remedy
Consumers should unplug and stop using the coffeemakers immediately and contact Krups North America, to receive a free replacement coffeemaker.
Sold at
Department, appliance and specialty stores nationwide sold the coffeemakers, from January 1996 through April 2000, for about $95.

About 218,000
Injuries reported
Krups has received 37 reports of the coffeemakers overheating, including 12 reports of fire and smoke damage to cabinets, countertops and surrounding objects. No injuries have been reported.
