CPSC, Raleigh America Inc. Announce Recall of Bicycles

Raleigh America Inc., of Kent, Wash.
Hazard

The bottom bracket spindle inside the crankset of the bicycle can break, causing the rider to lose control and crash.

Remedy
Consumers should immediately stop riding these bicycles and contact the authorized Diamondback dealer where the bicycle was purchased to arrange for a free repair.
Sold at
Authorized Diamondback dealers sold the bicycles nationwide from January 2001 through August 2001 for between $1,400 and $1,900.

Injuries reported
Raleigh America has received five reports of bottom bracket spindles breaking. No injuries have been reported.
