CPSC, Leifheit International USA Announce Recall of Apple Slicer/Corer

Leifheit International USA Inc., of Melville, N.Y.
Hazard

The cutting blade can separate from the center-coring ring during use, causing cuts to consumers' hands and fingers.

Remedy
Consumers should stop using these apple slicers/corers immediately and return them to either the place of purchase or the company. Consumers will have their choice of receiving a replacement or a refund.
Sold at
Houseware and gourmet cooking stores sold the slicers/corers nationwide, from January 2001 to July 2002, for about $18.

Injuries reported
Leifheit has received two reports of the blades separating, resulting in minor cuts to the user's fingers.
