CPSC, Cannondale Corp. Announce Recall of ATVs

Cannondale Corp., of Bethel, Conn.
Hazard

The front shocks can break apart internally while riding. If this happens, the shock halves can separate, causing the ATV suspension to fail. The operator can lose control of the ATV, possibly resulting in injury or death.

Remedy
Consumers should stop riding these ATVs and contact their local Cannondale dealer to schedule an appointment to have the front shocks replaced for free.
Sold at
Cannondale dealers nationwide sold these ATVs, from February 2002 through September 2002, for $7,000.

Cannondale Corp. has received 11 reports of these front shocks breaking apart. One consumer has suffered a broken leg.
