CPSC, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Announce Recall of Slow Cookers
Select Brands, Inc., of Lenexa, Kan.
Hazard
The heating element can drop to the bottom of the slow cooker and melt through the plastic outer shell, posing a burn hazard to users.
Remedy
Consumers should immediately stop using the product and return the slow cooker to Wal-Mart for a full refund.
Sold at
Wal-Mart stores nationwide, from June 2003 through May 2004, for about $28.

Wal-Mart has received 27 reports of scorched or damaged countertops, though no injuries have been reported.
