CPSC, DESA Heating Products and Scheu Manufacturing Co. Announce Recall of Propane Heaters

DESA Heating Products, of Bowling Green, Ky.
Hazard

The plastic ring on the heater's regulator can crack, causing gas to leak out if the propane tank and heater regulator are turned on. This can create a fire hazard if an ignition source is present.

Remedy
Consumers should stop using this heater immediately. The firm is out of business. A remedy is no longer available. Consumers should discard the product.
Sold at
Home centers and hardware stores nationwide, from September 2002 through January 2005, for between $45 and $120.

Injuries reported
The firms have received four reports of incidents involving minor burns to the hand and two cases of minor property damage.
