CPSC, Mintek Digital Inc. Announce Recall of Portable DVD Player Batteries
Mintek Digital Inc. of Anaheim, Calif.
Hazard
The battery can overheat and explode while recharging, posing a burn and fire hazard to consumers.
Remedy
The company is out of business and a remedy is no longer available. Please discard the battery pack appropriately. The product may still be used on AC power.
Sold at
Electronic and department stores nationwide, including Best Buy, from September 2002 through January 2005, for between $200 and $300.

Injuries reported
Mintek has received 10 reports of incidents, including nine cases of the battery pack overheating and/or catching fire and one report of the battery pack overheating and bursting.
