CPSC, Target Corp. Announce Recall of Birch/Bark Candles
Target Corp., Minneapolis, Minn.
Hazard
The birch and bark surrounding the candles can ignite, posing a fire and burn hazard.
Remedy
Consumers should return the candles to the nearest Target store to receive a gift card from Target in the amount of $15, plus applicable state taxes.
Sold at
Target stores nationwide, from September 2004 through March 2005, between $6 and $15.

About 256,000
Injuries reported
There have been 24 reports of the birch and bark candles catching fire and six reports of property damage. No injuries have been reported.
