CPSC, Vernier Software & Technology Announce Recall of Go!™ Temp Temperature Sensors

Hazard

When connected to a computer, a static discharge to the sensor can cause the sensor to draw too much current from the computer, causing the sensor to get hot. The sensor can get hot enough to cause a burn to the skin or damage objects in contact with it.

Remedy
Consumers should stop using the Vernier Go!™ Temp included in this recall immediately and contact Vernier Software & Technology for a free replacement.
Sold at
Vernier Software & Technology and its resellers through their catalogs and Web sites, from February 6, 2004 through December 3, 2004, for about $39.

Vernier reported one incident in which a teacher suffered burns to her palm.
