Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. Recalls Snowmobiles for Projectile Hazard
Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP), of Quebec, Canada
Hazard
Cracks can appear in the starter ring gears, causing ring gear fragmentation at high speeds. The debris can act as a projectile, causing injury or death to riders or bystanders.
Remedy
Consumers with recalled snowmobiles are being sent direct notice from BRP. Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact a local Ski-Doo dealer to schedule an appointment for a free repair.
Sold at
Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from September 2004 through March 2006 for between $9,300 and $11,600.

Injuries reported
BRP has received six reported incidents of fragmentation. There have been three reported injuries, including a laceration to a rider's foot that required stitches and one rider, who suffered a fractured toe.
