Coast Spas and Franklin Electric Co. Recall Coast Spas Due to Fire Hazard
Coast Spas Manufacturing Inc., of Langley, British Columbia, Canada (spas)
Hazard
The recalled spas have a circulating pump and motor assembly, which can overheat and pose a fire hazard.
Remedy
Consumers should contact Coast Spas immediately to arrange for the installation of a free retrofit by a service technician. Until the retrofit is completed, consumers should shut off power to the spa, and in areas subject to below-freezing temperatures, winterize the spa. Winterization procedures can be found in the owner's manual, or by contacting Coast Spas by phone.
Sold at
Spa dealers nationwide from January 2002 through October 2004 for between $7,000 and $15,000.
