Thermos Recalls 8.2 Million Stainless King Food Jars and Bottles Due to Serious Impact Injury and Laceration Hazards

Thermos L.L.C., of Schaumburg, Illinois

Thermos food jars recalled: stoppers can eject forcefully

Thermos is recalling 8.2 million food jars and bottles because the stopper can suddenly pop out with force when you open the container, especially if food has been stored inside for a long time. This has injured 27 people, including 3 who lost vision after being hit in the eye.

  • Stop using the recalled jars immediately (models SK3000, SK3020, or SK3010 made before July 2023)
  • Check the bottom of your Thermos container for the model number
  • Contact Thermos for a free replacement stopper or new bottle
  • For models 3000/3020: dispose of the stopper and send Thermos a photo
  • For model 3010: use the prepaid shipping label to return the bottle
Hazard

If perishable food or beverages are stored in the container for an extended period of time, the stopper can forcefully eject when opened, which can result in serious impact injury and laceration hazards to the consumer.

Remedy
Consumers should stop using the recalled Food Jars and Bottles immediately and contact Thermos to receive a free replacement pressure relief stopper or replacement Bottle, depending on the model. For recalled 3000 and 3020 Food Jars, consumers will be asked to throw away the stopper and send a photo of the disposed stopper to Thermos. For recalled 3010 Bottles, consumers will be asked to return their recalled Bottle to Thermos using a prepaid shipping label.
