Natural Pigments Recalls Rublev Colours Gum Turpentine and Mineral Spirits Bottles Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Child Poisoning; Violates Mandatory Standard for Child-Resistant Packaging
Art supply bottles lack child-safety caps
Natural Pigments is recalling Rublev Colours Gum Turpentine and Mineral Spirits bottles because they don't have child-resistant caps. These liquids are toxic if swallowed. The bottles were sold at art supply stores and online from August 2022 through March 2026.
- Move the bottles to a locked cabinet or high shelf away from children immediately
- Contact Natural Pigments with a photo of the bottle to get a replacement with a safety cap or a refund
- Do not throw away the old bottle until you receive a replacement
The gum turpentine and mineral spirits contain turpentine and low-viscosity hydrocarbons, respectively, which must be in child-resistant packaging, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The bottles are not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.
