Generac and DR Power electric start pressure washers recalled for carbon monoxide hazard
What this means
The electric start button on certain Generac and DR Power pressure washers can malfunction and cause the unit to self-start unexpectedly. If the pressure washer starts in a confined space, it can produce dangerous levels of carbon monoxide gas.
- Stop using the recalled pressure washer immediately.
- Contact Generac to arrange a free repair at an authorized dealer.
- You can still use the pressure washer safely by removing the battery and using the pull-start option instead.
- Check your model number on the product label to confirm if your unit is affected.

The electronic start/stop button on the pressure washer can malfunction and self-start, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to carbon monoxide poisoning, if the unit is in a confined space.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pressure washer and contact Generac to arrange for a free repair at your dealer's location. The pressure washer can still be used with the battery removed by using the pull-start option to start the unit.
