Apeks XL4 scuba regulators recalled for airflow restriction at depth
What this means
Certain Apeks second stage scuba regulators (models XL4, XL4+, and XL4 Ocea) can restrict air flow to divers at depths beyond 147 feet, creating a serious breathing hazard underwater. The affected regulators were sold between April 2025 and June 2026 and can be identified by serial numbers laser-etched on the side of the equipment.
- Stop using the recalled regulator immediately if you own an Apeks XL4, XL4+, or XL4 Ocea model.
- Check the serial number on the side of your regulator. If it falls between 250402212 and 260402893, it is affected.
- Bring the regulator to any HEAD Watersports Authorized Retailer for a free valve spindle assembly replacement.

The recalled second stage regulators can restrict air flow to the user at depths exceeding 45 meters (approximately 147 feet), posing risk of serious injury or death from a drowning hazard.
Consumers should stop using the recalled second stage scuba regulators immediately and bring the product to any HEAD Watersports Authorized Retailer who will replace the valve spindle assembly at no cost to the consumer.
