Modine Manufacturing Airedale heating and cooling ventilation fans recalled for fire hazard
Modine Airedale ventilation fans recalled for fire hazard
The ventilation fan motor in Modine's Airedale heating and cooling units can short circuit if water reaches the circuit board, causing the units to overheat and potentially catch fire. The affected models are ClassMate and SchoolMate heat pumps installed in schools and classrooms since 2013. Modine has received 11 reports of fires causing over $2.7 million in property damage.
- Stop using the recalled heat pump immediately.
- Contact your Modine distributor or Modine Manufacturing Company to unplug the ventilation fan or switch the internal disconnect to "off".
- Arrange a free inspection and service with a Modine technician to repair or replace the affected ventilation fan.
