Welch Allyn SureTemp Plus oral probe recalled for low temperature readings

Some Welch Allyn SureTemp Plus thermometer oral probes were incorrectly programmed with rectal probe settings. These affected probes may display temperatures that are lower than actual body temperature, which could delay treatment of fever or infection.

  • Check if your thermometer's oral probe matches the affected serial numbers (24518445–24518874 or 24519158–24519227)
  • Contact Baxter Healthcare Corporation for a replacement probe or thermometer
  • Do not rely solely on affected probes for fever assessment until replaced
Hazard

Affected oral/axillary probes were inadvertently programmed with the rectal probe configuration. Affected probes will potentially display a lower temperature than the true value, which may lead to a delay in managing fever-related symptoms or infection.
