BD BACTEC 9120 system recalled for credential access risk

Unauthorized actors gained access to service credentials used by BD technical support teams for the BACTEC 9120 blood culture system. Until credentials are updated, there is a risk that unauthorized parties could access the system or associated patient data.

  • Check if your facility uses a BACTEC 9120 System (Catalog Numbers 445570, 445702, or 44557008)
  • Contact BD technical support for credential updates and security guidance
  • Follow any interim security measures provided by BD until updates are complete

Product service credentials used by some BD technical support teams to access certain BD products were accessed by an unauthorized actor. Until these product service credentials are updated, there is a risk of unauthorized access that may impact the confidentiality, integrity and/or availability of the relevant products and associated data.
