Medline's Semi Electric Lightweight Homecare Bed (model MDR107002L) has a potential fire hazard in the hand control pendant and wires. In rare cases—such as when the bed is overloaded, blocked, or jammed—the pendant may overheat and spark, burn, melt, or catch fire. Medline has received 58 complaints of pendant sparking, burning, melting, smoking, or fire.

  • Stop using the bed immediately, especially if you notice any sparking, burning, melting, or smoking from the hand pendant or cord.

In rare and atypical scenarios such as operating the bed above its specified weight limit, encountering an obstruction to bed movement, or experiencing jammed components/motor the hand pendant and pendant cords may overheat and, in rare instances, pose a risk of fire.
