Arrow International arterial and RA catheter kits recalled for compromised injectable medications
Arrow International catheter kits recalled for drug quality issues
Arrow International included lidocaine, bupivacaine, and saline solutions from a supplier with known quality problems in multiple arterial and radial artery catheter kits. The supplier's medications showed signs of ineffectiveness, and if the sterility of these injectable products was compromised, patients could face serious injury.
- Check the lot numbers on your catheter kits against the FDA recall list.
- Do not use affected kits; contact your healthcare facility's supply chain or pharmacy department.
- Report any patient injuries or medication failures to the FDA MedWatch program.
Lidocaine, Bupivacaine, and 0.9% sodium chloride, the subject of a supplier recall, were included into kits and sets. The supplier was found to have quality issues and limited reports of drug ineffectiveness, and if sterility of a water-based injectable product is compromised this could lead to serious or life-threatening injuries.
