Oribe Serene Scalp shampoo recalled for bacterial contamination

Kao USA recalled select lots of Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo (8.5 oz and 33.8 oz) made between February 21–26, 2026 after detecting Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria. People with weakened immune systems may be at higher risk of infection.

  • Check the bottom of your shampoo bottle for lot codes starting with 'YR' (YR010556 for 8.5 oz; YR010566 or YR010576 for 33.8 oz).
  • Stop using the product if you have an affected lot.
  • Contact Kao at 800-333-2442 or oribecomplaints@kao.com for a replacement or disposal.
