Breeder's Edge and Shelter's Choice dog milk replacers recalled for vitamin D risk
Revival Animal Health is recalling several canine and goat milk replacer products because they contain inconsistent levels of vitamin D—some too low, some too high. Dogs fed these products may develop serious health problems ranging from vomiting and weakness to bone deformities (rickets in puppies) or kidney damage (from excess vitamin D). Two cases of rickets have been reported so far.
- Stop feeding the affected products to your dogs immediately.
- Contact Revival Animal Health at 1-877-870-4059 (M–F, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. CDT) to return the product for a full refund.
- If your dog has consumed these products and shows vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, lethargy, loss of appetite, swollen joints, lameness, or bone deformities, contact your veterinarian.
