Shining Sea Fish Co. is recalling Ma Cohen's Kippered Herring smoked fish because the product was not fully cleaned (eviscerated), which allows a dangerous bacterium called Clostridium botulinum to grow. This bacterium can cause botulism, a serious illness that can be life-threatening. No illnesses have been reported yet.
- Do not eat this product, even if it looks or smells normal.
- Return any packages of Ma Cohen's Kippered Herring to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
- If you have eaten this product and develop weakness, dizziness, double vision, trouble speaking or swallowing, or difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention.
