K&N and Spectre fuel filters recalled for fire risk

The O-ring in certain K&N and Spectre replacement fuel filters may disintegrate, causing fuel to leak. A fuel leak near an ignition source can start a fire. Pieces of the O-ring may also clog fuel lines, reducing engine performance and increasing crash risk.

  • Do not drive your vehicle until you replace the fuel filter if you own one of these units.
  • Contact K&N customer service at 1-866-401-5660 or recallreturn@knfilters.com for a replacement and refund.
  • Check your fuel filter part number: KN81-0300, KN81-0301, SPE-2369, SPE-2358, or SPE-6932.
  • Expect owner notification letters starting in July 2026.
Hazard

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. In addition, pieces of the O-ring may clog the fuel lines, causing a loss of engine performance and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until they replace the fuel filter. K&N will refund the purchase price, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in July 2026. Owners may contact K&N customer service at recallreturn@knfilters.com or 1-866-401-5660.
