Heil CNG tailgate ladder kits recalled for fire risk

Certain Heil CNG tailgate ladder kits may have an incorrect bolt installed in one of the ladder legs. This bolt can contact and damage the CNG cylinders underneath, causing fuel to leak and increasing the risk of fire.

  • Contact Heil customer service at 1-866-275-4345 (recall number SN-26-001) to confirm if your vehicle is affected.
  • Do not operate the vehicle until the ladder bracket has been inspected or replaced.
  • Heil will replace the ladder bracket free of charge; owner notification letters will be mailed starting October 8, 2026.
Hazard

A damaged CNG tank can leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy
Heil will replace the ladder bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 8, 2026. Owners may contact Heil's customer service at 1-866-275-4345. Heil's number for this recall is SN-26-001.
