Tyson Foods recalled approximately 33,840 pounds of mechanically separated chicken produced on October 10, 2013, due to potential contamination with Salmonella Heidelberg. The contaminated products were distributed to institutional facilities (such as correctional institutions) and were linked to seven confirmed illnesses in Tennessee, resulting in two hospitalizations.
- If you work at a correctional or institutional facility that received this product, check for establishment seal P-13556 and box code 2843SDL1412-18
- Do not use the recalled product; dispose of it safely
- Cook all poultry to an internal temperature of 165°F to kill harmful bacteria
