Baraka Bakery halal ground beef recalled for E. coli O157:H7 contamination

Do not eat Baraka Bakery ground beef

Baraka Bakery and Grocery in Nashville, Tennessee is recalling halal ground beef processed between April 10–26, 2017, because it may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, a harmful bacteria. The contamination was discovered during a routine safety check. No confirmed illnesses have been reported so far.

  • Do not eat this ground beef. Throw it away or return it to the store.
  • Check your freezer for packages labeled 'HALAL GROUND BEEF' from Baraka Bakery dated April 10–26, 2017.
  • Seek emergency care immediately if you experience bloody diarrhea, severe stomach cramps, or decreased urination within 2–8 days of eating this product.
  • Cook all ground beef to an internal temperature of 160°F, measured with a food thermometer.
