Kapowsin Meats pork products recalled for Salmonella contamination

Don't eat Kapowsin Meats whole hogs

Kapowsin Meats Inc. recalled approximately 11,658 pounds of whole roaster hogs produced between June 13 and July 15, 2016 due to possible Salmonella contamination. Three confirmed illnesses in Washington have been linked to these products. The affected products bear establishment number EST. 1628M on the USDA inspection mark.

  • Do not eat these products if you have them.
  • Throw away or return to the place of purchase any whole hogs for barbeque from Kapowsin Meats produced between June 13–July 15, 2016 with EST. 1628M on the label.
  • Cook pork to a minimum internal temperature of 145°F with a 3-minute rest time using a food thermometer.
  • Contact your doctor if you develop diarrhea, abdominal cramps, or fever within 72 hours of eating this product.
