Scanga Meat Company ground beef recalled for E. coli O103 contamination
Throw out Scanga Meat ground beef products
Scanga Meat Company in Colorado is recalling approximately 563 pounds of ground beef products produced on December 11, 2023, because they may contain E. coli O103 bacteria. The contamination was discovered during routine testing. No illnesses have been reported so far.
- Do not eat ground beef with lot code 3345 from Scanga Meat Company (check labels for "It's a treat to eat Scanga Meat" or "SCANGA MEAT" brand names).
- Throw away or return these products to where you bought them.
- If you develop bloody diarrhea, vomiting, or severe stomach pain within 3–4 days, see a doctor and mention the recalled beef.
- Cook all ground beef to 160°F (use a food thermometer) to kill harmful bacteria.
