Richard's boudin products recalled for potential Bacillus cereus toxins from temperature abuse

Don't eat Richard's boudin; check your freezer

Carlton Foods in Texas recalled approximately 25,764 pounds of Richard's brand boudin (a type of sausage) produced between August 22 and October 17, 2014. The pre-cooked rice used in these products was stored at unsafe temperatures, which allowed Bacillus cereus bacteria to produce toxins that can cause nausea and vomiting. No illnesses have been reported.

  • Check your freezer for Richard's boudin with 'EST. 1943' or 'EST. 961' on the USDA inspection mark and a 'Sell by' date between October 28, 2014 and December 16, 2014.
  • Do not eat the product; throw it away or return it to the store.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience nausea or vomiting after consuming this product.
