Do not eat JBS Tolleson raw beef products

JBS Tolleson, Inc. recalled approximately 6.9 million pounds of raw, non-intact beef products (including ground beef) packaged between late July and early September 2018 due to possible Salmonella Newport contamination. The contaminated products were distributed to retail stores and institutions nationwide. At least 57 people in 16 states became sick, with illness dates ranging from August 5 to September 6, 2018.

  • Do not eat these products. Throw them away or return them to the store where you bought them.
  • Check your freezer—some product may still be frozen at home.
  • If you consumed this beef and develop diarrhea, abdominal cramps, or fever within 3 days, contact your doctor.
  • Cook all raw ground beef to 160°F (use a food thermometer to verify). Other beef cuts should reach 145°F and rest 3 minutes.
