Silver Springs Farms ground beef recalled for potential E. coli O157:H7 contamination

Do not eat Silver Springs Farms ground beef

Silver Springs Farms, Inc. recalled approximately 740 pounds of ground beef (80/20 blend) produced on August 19, 2016, because it may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. The beef was distributed to Virginia. The company discovered the problem during routine testing, and no illnesses have been reported so far.

  • Do not consume this ground beef if you purchased it.
  • Throw away the product or return it to the store where you bought it.
  • If you have eaten this beef and develop diarrhea, bloody stools, abdominal cramps, or bruising within 2–8 days, seek medical attention right away.
  • Cook all ground beef to an internal temperature of 160°F to kill harmful bacteria.
