Silver Springs Farms beef products recalled for possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination

Silver Springs Farms, Inc. recalled approximately 7,970 pounds of ground beef, beef patties, and an undetermined amount of beef sandwiches produced between August 19 and September 19, 2016, because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. No illnesses have been reported. The affected products were distributed to retailers and food service establishments in Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

  • Do not eat these products. Throw them away or return them to where you bought them.
  • Check your freezer for recalled items: look for establishment number EST. 4771 on the USDA inspection seal.
  • Wash your hands and any surfaces that touched the product.
  • Seek immediate medical care if you or a family member develops bloody diarrhea, severe stomach cramps, or reduced urination within 2–8 days.
