Throw out Aspen Foods frozen stuffed chicken

Aspen Foods recalled approximately 561,000 pounds of frozen, raw, stuffed and breaded chicken products that may be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis. The contaminated products were produced between August 25 and September 17, 2015, and distributed nationwide under multiple brand names including Kirkwood, Schwans, Sysco, and Safeway Kitchens. Five people in Minnesota became ill after consuming these products.

  • Do not eat these products. Throw them away or return them to the store.
  • Check your freezer for affected products produced between August 25–September 17, 2015, with best-by dates August 23, 2016–December 15, 2016.
  • Look for USDA establishment number P-1358 on the package.
  • Handle raw chicken carefully to avoid cross-contamination. Cook to 165°F if you are uncertain whether you have this product.
  • Contact your doctor if you have diarrhea, abdominal cramps, or fever within 3 days of eating recalled chicken.
