Kapowsin Meats in Washington recalled approximately 116,262 pounds of whole hogs for barbecue produced between April and July 2015 due to possible Salmonella contamination. The contamination was linked to 32 confirmed cases of salmonella illness. Affected products were distributed to retailers, institutions, and individuals in Alaska and Washington.

  • Do not eat whole hog products from Kapowsin Meats with establishment number EST. 1628 produced between April 18 and July 27, 2015.
  • Throw away the product or return it to where you purchased it.
  • If you have frozen product, discard it or return it.
  • Seek medical care if you develop diarrhea, abdominal cramps, or fever within 72 hours of eating the product.
