Sanderson Farms chicken products recalled for metal contamination

Don't eat Sanderson Farms chicken products

Sanderson Farms recalled approximately 554,090 pounds of chicken products produced on September 17–18, 2015, because they may contain metal fragments. A malfunctioning ice machine at the production facility in Hazlehurst, Mississippi caused the contamination. No illnesses have been reported.

  • Do not eat these products if you have them at home.
  • Throw away the chicken or return it to where you bought it.
  • Look for products with EST. P-247 on the USDA inspection seal and production dates of September 17–18, 2015.
  • Call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-674-6854 (Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. ET) if you have questions.
