Bluegrass Provisions ready-to-eat sausage recalled for possible Listeria contamination

Do not eat Bluegrass Provisions sausage products

Bluegrass Provisions Co. in Kentucky produced ready-to-eat sausage products that may contain Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious infection. The affected products were produced in April 2020 and sold under multiple brand names including Blue Grass Mettwurst, Walnut Creek Foods, and Lidl smoked bratwurst varieties. Most products are past their expiration dates, but some may remain in freezers.

  • Check your freezer for 14-oz. packages with a use or freeze by date of July 23, 2020, and establishment number EST. 7417
  • Do not eat these products; throw them away or return them to the store
  • If you consumed these products and develop fever, muscle aches, or headache within two months, contact your doctor and mention the sausage
  • Call 1-888-674-6854 (USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline) with questions
