Trek and Electra electric bicycles recalled for rear wheel bolt failure and fall hazard

Stop riding recalled Trek and Electra e-bikes
The rear wheel bolts on certain 2026 Trek FX+ and Electra Townie Go! electric bicycles can break during use, causing the rear wheel to separate from the frame. This poses a serious fall risk to riders. Trek has received seven reports of bolt breakage, though no injuries have been reported yet.
- Stop using the bicycle immediately if you own a 2026 Trek FX+ or Electra Townie Go! e-bike purchased before October 28, 2025.
- Contact an authorized Trek or Electra dealer to schedule a free repair. Find a dealer at https://www.trekbikes.com./us/en_US/store-finder/
- The dealer will replace the black rear wheel bolts with new silver bolts at no cost.
- You'll receive a $10 in-store credit (valid through December 31, 2026) for participating in the recall.

Hazard
The rear wheel bolts can break when torqued, causing the wheel to separate from the bicycle, posing a fall hazard.
Remedy
Consumers should immediately stop using the bicycles with recalled bolts and contact an authorized Trek or Electra dealer to schedule a free repair at the dealer's location. The dealer will replace the original black rear wheel bolts with new silver rear wheel bolts. Consumers can locate their nearest dealer at https://www.trekbikes.com./us/en_US/store-finder/. Trek will provide consumers who participate in the recall with a $10 in-store credit toward any Trek, Electra or Bontrager merchandise. The credit is valid through December 31, 2026.
