Friedrich KÜHL window air conditioners recalled for fire and burn hazard
What this means
The control board inside the motor of certain Friedrich KÜHL Q and KÜHL S window air conditioners can fail, causing the motor to ignite. The company has received two reports of motors catching fire, including one incident that caused smoke and fire damage to a home.
- Stop using the recalled air conditioner immediately.
- Visit www.friedrich.com/product-recall with your unit's serial number (found inside the unit) to check if your model is affected.
- If your serial number is on the recall list, Friedrich will provide a refund or free replacement.
The agency's original wording
Consumers should stop using the recalled air conditioners immediately and visit www.friedrich.com/product-recall to receive information on how to determine if their unit is covered by the recall. Consumers should have the air conditioner’s serial number, which can be found on the inside of the unit, when they visit the recall web page or call Friedrich about the recall. If your unit has a serial number that is included in the recall, the firm will send you instructions on how to obtain a refund or free replacement unit.
