ASP Global's Expressaire disposable tourniquet cuffs were labeled with a 10-year shelf life, but the correct validated shelf life is only 5 years. Products manufactured between September 2016 and March 2023 have incorrect expiration dates printed on them, which could lead to use of cuffs beyond their safe sterility window during surgery.
- Check any Expressaire tourniquet cuffs (model A70107003) in your facility for lot codes R0601STY through M0930STY or O0120STY manufactured between September 2016 and March 2023.
- Verify the actual expiration date against the 5-year shelf life from the manufacture date, not the 10-year date on the package.
- Remove and quarantine any affected cuffs that have expired based on the correct 5-year timeframe.
- Contact ASP Global or your supplier with questions about your specific lot codes.
