ASP Global's Expressaire disposable tourniquet cuffs manufactured between September 2016 and March 2023 were labeled with a 10-year shelf life, but the actual validated shelf life is 5 years. This means some cuffs in use may have exceeded their safe sterility window. A total of 36 units were affected across multiple U.S. states.
- Check the manufacture date on any Expressaire tourniquet cuff (model A70107017) in your facility.
- Set aside any cuff manufactured before March 2018, as it may have exceeded the 5-year shelf life.
- Contact your surgical supplier or ASP Global for guidance on affected units and replacement options.
- Do not use cuffs past their correct 5-year expiration date.
