Baxter Likorall Overhead Lifts recalled for motor shaft breakage and safety system failure risk
What this means
Baxter Healthcare's Likorall overhead patient lifts may experience motor shaft breakage combined with reduced safety system performance, causing the lift strap to lower faster than expected during use. This malfunction could result in patient injury if a significant fall occurs.
- Check if your facility uses any Likorall model 200, 242, 243, or 250 series lift.
- Compare your product's serial number to the recalled lot ranges provided by Baxter.
- Contact Baxter Healthcare for inspection, repair, or replacement instructions.
- Do not operate lifts with unknown or recalled serial numbers until inspected.
The agency's original wording
Potential issue involving motor shaft breakage combined with reduced performance of the Single Fault Safety (SFS) system may lead to instances where the lift strap lowers more quickly than expected during use. Patients are at some risk for injury if a significant fall/drop were to occur due to this issue.
