Boston Scientific Direxion Torqueable Microcatheter recalled for coating and manufacturing defects
What this means
Boston Scientific has recalled certain Direxion Torqueable Microcatheters due to manufacturing defects: the hydrophilic coating on the distal tip may not have been properly cured, and the nitinol sleeves may have raised ridges from laser cutting misalignment. These defects could affect device performance during use.
- If you are a healthcare provider or facility, check your inventory against the affected batch numbers (37881100 through 40510769; see full list in the FDA notice).
- Contact Boston Scientific if you have devices from affected batches; do not use them until advised.

The product is defective due to insufficient UV curing of the hydrophilic coating which is present on the outer surface of the distal segment of the microcatheters and raised ridges on nitinol sleeves due to laser cutting misalignment.
