Niwali Tejocote supplements recalled for possible yellow oleander
Global Mix Inc. is recalling Niwali Tejocote Capsules and Niwali Tejocote Pieces because FDA testing found the products actually contain yellow oleander (Thevetia peruviana), a highly toxic plant. All parts of yellow oleander contain cardiac glycosides that can cause severe or fatal effects including nausea, vomiting, heart rhythm changes, and organ damage.

Global Mix Inc. of Middle Village, New York, is recalling niwali Tejocote Capsules (90 capsules, Herbal Supplement) and niwali Tejocote Pieces (90 Day Supply, Herbal Supplement) because FDA analysis has determined that the products appear to be Thevetia peruviana, or yellow oleander. All parts of the yellow oleander plant are known to contain cardiac glycosides, which are highly toxic to humans and animals. Ingestion of yellow oleander can cause severe or even fatal neurologic, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular adverse health effects. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, changes in heart rhythm, arrhythmia, and more.
The products were distributed nationwide within the United States through ebay.com and Everymarket.com. A total of five units of the recalled products were sold, consisting of two (2) units of capsules and three (3) units of pieces. Because the sales were made through an online marketplace that does not release purchaser contact details to the seller, the company is unable to identify or notify every purchaser individually. The company is therefore issuing this press release so that any consumer who purchased the products can identify them and act on this notice.

How the problem was discovered
The recall was initiated after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration advised the company of laboratory results for two samples collected by the agency on June 19, 2026, which showed that the products labeled as tejocote were in fact toxic yellow oleander. The company acted promptly on that information, ceased distribution of the affected products, removed the listings from sale, and is conducting this voluntary recall while it investigates the problem.

Consumers who have purchased niwali Tejocote Capsules or niwali Tejocote Pieces should stop using them immediately and should not consume any remaining product.
