VMC compounded glutathione recalled for high endotoxin levels

Victory Medical Center Pharmacy identified elevated bacterial endotoxin levels in certain lots of its compounded glutathione 200 mg/mL multi-dose vials used for injection. Endotoxin contamination can cause serious reactions including fever, low blood pressure, severe headache, and in rare cases, anaphylactic shock or death. The pharmacy has received reports of adverse events from patients who received the product.

• Stop using the product immediately if you have one of the affected lots (1980571, 1981940, or 1984345).
• Quarantine any recalled vials and contact Victory Medical Center Pharmacy at (512) 279-0985 to arrange pickup.
• Call your prescribing physician if you experienced fever, chills, severe headache, nausea, vomiting, or injection site reactions after use.
