Ford Battery Energy Control Module recalled for loss of power and fire risk

What this means

Ford is recalling certain Battery Energy Control Modules (BECM) with incorrect software that can display an inaccurate battery charge level. This may cause an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing crash risk, or cause the module to overheat and create a fire hazard.

  • Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) against Ford's recall list at ford.com or contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 26S70).
  • If your vehicle is affected, schedule a service appointment with a Ford dealer to update the BECM software at no charge.
  • Owner notification letters will be mailed beginning November 8, 2026.

Hazard

An inaccurate state-of-charge reading can lead to an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing the risk of crash. Additionally, an overheating BECM increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Dealers will update the BECM software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 8, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S70.
