Ford Ranger recalled for rearview camera display failure
What this means
Certain 10.1-inch center stack screens installed in 2024–2026 Ford Ranger vehicles during service may lose power and fail to display the rearview camera image. This reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle and increases crash risk.
- Check if your 2024–2026 Ranger was serviced with a 10.1-inch center stack screen by searching your VIN at NHTSA.gov.
- Watch for an interim safety notice from Ford starting October 5, 2026.
- Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 with questions (recall #26C42).
- A fix is being developed; Ford will send instructions when it is ready.
The agency's original wording
A rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy is currently under development. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed October 5, 2026. Additional letters will be sent when the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C42. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 25, 2026.
