Chrysler Ram ProMaster and 3500 EV recalled for power steering failure risk
What this means
Water can enter the electric power steering wiring harness in certain 2022–2026 Ram ProMaster and 2024–2026 Ram 3500 Electric vehicles, disabling power steering assist. This can make the vehicle harder to steer and increase crash risk.
- Check your VIN on NHTSA.gov starting October 6, 2026 to see if your vehicle is affected.
- Watch for a notification letter from Chrysler (expected November 17, 2026).
- Contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 to schedule a free inspection and repair once parts are available.
- Do not ignore warning lights or loss of power steering feel while driving.
The agency's original wording
A loss of power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect and replace the wiring harness and electronic power steering gear, as necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed November 17, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 92D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will became searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 6, 2026.
