Mastro mortadella recalled for undeclared pistachio allergen
Don't eat Mastro mortadella; pistachio allergen unlabeled
Sofina Foods recalled approximately 15,165 pounds of Mastro brand mortadella (ready-to-eat deli meat) because it contains pistachio (a tree nut allergen) that is not listed on the label. The affected products were produced in March and early April 2023 and were distributed to delis and food service businesses in California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania. A customer discovered a pistachio nut while slicing the product.
- Do not eat this mortadella if you have a pistachio or tree nut allergy
- Check your freezer and refrigerator for Mastro mortadella with lot codes BE170418, BE170560, BE170422, or BE170668, and establishment number 224
- Throw away the product or return it to the store where you bought it
- Call Sofina's Butterball Consumer Hotline at 1-855-763-4621 if you have questions
