Medline convenience kits containing Bard Silastic Foley Catheters (sizes 16, 18, and 20 French, 5cc balloons) have been recalled. The catheters contain increased amounts of raw material on the surface, which may cause staining and could be harmful if the catheters are used.

What to do

  1. Check if you have any Medline convenience kits with Bard Silastic Foley Catheters in sizes 16, 18, or 20 French.
  2. Do not use affected catheters. Check the lot numbers (25GLA905, 25HLA240, 25HLA894, 25JLA091, 25KLA775, 25LLA985, 26ALA670) on the packaging.
  3. Contact your healthcare provider or Medline for instructions on safe replacement or disposal.

Medline urology kits recalled for excess catheter surface material

Medline is recalling nine urology convenience kits that contain Bard Silastic Foley catheters. The catheter maker recalled them because they have higher than intended amounts of raw material on the surface, which can cause staining and may be harmful. The kits were distributed nationwide, with confirmed distribution in California, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Texas, and no injuries have been reported.
